NASA astronauts head home following 6 day visit to Isle of Man

Their visit has raised the profile of the Isle of Man’s continued commitment to supporting the Space Industry.

The NASA astronauts who crewed the historic final mission of the space shuttle Discovery are leaving the Island today following a 6-day visit to the Island.

Whilst on Island they were joined by popular TV presenter Professor Brian Cox, the host of the Wonders of the Universe series.

Their presence during the last week is seen as a great coup for the Island as out of the thousands of requests NASA can only accommodate a handful each year.

Whilst here they’ve attended Tynwald Day as special guests and addressed over a thousand school pupils at the Villa Marina yesterday.

Their visit has also raised the profile of the Isle of Man’s continued commitment to supporting the Space Industry.

Among the visiting astronauts was Nicole Stott, wife of Mansat founder Chris Stott; she said she thinks the Island’s Space industry will continue to grow.
