MWT asks public to look out for puffins

Manx Wildlife Trust is asking for the public's help in looking out for a creature becoming much rarer around Manx shores.

MWT says puffins were once a common sight on the Calf of Man, however breeding numbers have dropped dramatically over the years to 'virtually zero'.

The organisation adds a project is already underway to try and attract more of the birds, by placing fake puffins on Manx hot spots to try and get the animals breeding locally again.

However, the trust is also hoping people can let them know if they see any puffins around the Calf and the Isle of Man in general to help the cause.

If you see a puffin, you're asked to contact lara@manxwt.org.uk and say how many you saw, where they were and on what date.
