Murder Trial: Police found no evidence of crash site

 

That was what the jury in the trial of 46-year-old Castletown man Ian Anderson was told - he denies murdering 60-year-old Neil Roberts in December 2013.

 

Following his arrest Anderson told police Mr Roberts had called his wife on the evening of November 30th saying he was "in trouble" and had crashed his car - narrowly escaping the police. 

 

In subsequent calls Anderson agreed to drive to pick him up from the Parville Estate in Ballabeg where he worked because his wife had been drinking. 

 

The two men then went to a pub in Port Erin before returning to the Anderson's home on Queen Street - Mr Robert's body was found there in the early hours of December 1st.

 

Police later located his car on the estate and noted recent impact damage -they then checked possible routes he could have taken for evidence of crash sites or debris. 

 

No such area was recorded.
