The Department of Infrastructure says it needs to close part of the Mountain Road for a day next month.
It's due to shut from Creg Ny Baa to Brandywell from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 8.
The department says it needs to carry out work on the road surface near Keppel Gate to improve grip.
It says if bad weather means it can't go ahead on the day, it's set aside the following three days in case they're needed.
