The Mountain Road will stay closed until midday tomorrow.
It comes as a weather warning for ice is also being extended until 12pm on Tuesday, January 6.
The road closure is in place between Ramsey and the Creg Ny Baa.
The Department of Infrastructure says it will review the situation again in the morning.
