The Mountain Road closure has been extended to later 3.30pm today.
The Department of Infrastructure has issued an update showing how conditions vary on the road, with snow and mist in some places but others clear.
It says say the route will remain shut until at least 3.30pm.
On Facebook, it adds temperatures are rising and conditions are steadily improving.
