Motorists at risk due to communication failure says MHK

Procedures concerning the registration of vehicles on the Isle of Man should be reviewed to stop motorists being put at risk.

The Department of Infrastructure has been asked to look at the checks it conducts on vehicles which are brought to the Island after concerns were highlighted by a Malew and Santon MHK. 
 
Graham Cregeen, who's standing for re-election, says cars which should have been written off aren't being picked up at the Test Centre due to a communication failure: 
 
 
He's raised the issue after a constituent was left out of pocket after finding out his new car was actually a write off - he says he wants to see Hire Purchase Information checks introduced:  
 
 
The DOI has responded saying roadworthiness checks on vehicles that are less than three years old aren't required under current legislation adding the person affected should take it up with the UK seller.
