MOT testing could be introduced here

The government is considering introducing 'MOT' style vehicle testing on the Island.

At the moment there are around 68,000 private vehicles that are only tested if they are over three years old when they arrive here.

The Department of Infrastructure thinks it would be wise to introduce further testing for ageing vehicles and wants to know what the public thinks of the idea.

It's suggested a one-off test when a motor reaches ten years old.

However the public are being asked if testing should be done every year, every five, ten or 15 years or should it be left as it is currently.

People who want to give their views can complete a survey on the government website.
