The majority of people at last night's public meeting to discuss plans for an offshore windfarm off the Island’s east coast were against it.
Garff Commissioners aimed to gauge residents' views on Ørsted’s Mooir Vannin project before submitting its own response to a public consultation on it.
Many Garff locals who attended believed the 87-turbine development would ‘ruin’ the view over the sea and damage Laxey’s appeal as a seaside destination.
There were also concerns raised about the lack of benefits for residents, including not ‘keeping enough’ of the energy generated by the turbines.
