The government says people with mobility problems may soon have to pay extra when leasing scooters.
From Wednesday, July 1 a rule change for those on Disability Living Allowance will mean they'll lose VAT relief on vehicle hire.
Their top-up payments will be subject to the standard 20 per cent VAT rate - although it won't affect vehicles designed or adapted for wheelchair or stretcher users.
The government says the changes are being made in line with the UK under a 1973 agreement.
