Minister wants to keep commercial confidentiality

Treasury Minister Alf Cannan has defended keeping information out of the public domain when taxpayers' money's being spent.

In the House of Keys this week he faced calls from Onchan MHK Julie Edge to scrap commercial confidentiality clauses in government contracts.

Mr Cannan said if people wanted the information, they could use the Freedom of Information Act to apply for it - although that can also block releases because they contain commercial data.

And he said it was right government could keep prices secret:
