Minister to be quizzed over fire extinguishers

The Island’s Home Affairs Minister will be quizzed about the maintenance of fire extinguishers in public places in the House of Keys this week.

In a question for written answer North Douglas MHK John Houghton will ask Juan Watterson whether it is the Fire and Rescue Service’s responsibility to carry out inspections of the equipment.

If it is, Mr Houghton wants to know how often they carry these inspections out.

He also wants to know how many prosecutions have been brought against people in breach of the maintenance regulations.

Mr Houghton wants the figures from the last three years.
