Enterprise minister Laurence Skelly says he won’t be standing in the election – because he plans to stand for President of Tynwald.
He’s issues a statement today ruling himself out of the election in September after being a Rushen MHK for the last decade.
He says he never planned to become a career politician and feels privileged to have served in the House of Keys.
But Mr Skelly also revealed he’s agreed to put his name forward in July for the president’s job currently held by Steve Rodan.
