Damage caused to an ancient and valuable part of Peel Castle has been branded 'selfish and mindless' by authorities.
According to Police, between 3pm last Thursday (June 11) and 10.30am the next day (June 12), individuals have entered the site from the road and whilst sheltering inside have kicked a large door believed to be extremely rare and dating back as far as 500 years.
Officers say the true cost of the damage is not yet known but could be of 'extremely high value' and may have to be fixed by specialists.
Meanwhile, the constabulary also says those responsible have removed social distancing stickers from the floors at the castle.
Police now want to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at the time or has any information is asked to contact PC Collings on 631 212.
