A former Treasury Minister wants to see local authorities take on the collection of rates themselves.
David Ashford, MHK for Douglas North, says they should be left to ‘get on’ with the job.
It follows a statement made by current Treasury Minister Dr Alex Allinson, which said a consultation into the collection of rates debt would be created before the summer break.
Mr Ashford says the idea would not be popular with ‘many’ local authorities:
