A Douglas North MHK says he hopes the government will take a closer look at providing nursery education to younger children.
In Tynwald next week David Ashford will ask the court to set up a three-strong committee to look into nursery provision for under-twos.
He says at that age only around ten per cent of children can get a suitable place at a pre-school facility.
And he claims a shortage of places is stopping many parents from working:
