An Onchan MHK has called Manx Care a ‘failed model’ after what appear to be leaked emails purporting to show officials saying they can’t afford to pay for patients in Liverpool.
Photos of emails were published online today, claiming to show Manx Care telling a UK treatment provider it couldn’t afford to pay it and asking for non-essential treatment to be paused.
Senior Manx Care bosses including chief executive Teresa Cope are named in the documents, which were posted on Facebook.
After seeing them, Onchan MHK Julie Edge claimed the emails expose what she called ‘possible shocking failures in Manx Care’s financial management’.
She’s calling for an end to the arms-length organisation and for healthcare to be brought back under direct government control.
