20-year-old Christopher Lunt from Ballasalla pleaded guilty to two charges of attempted theft and using threatening or abusive words and behaviour.
Bobby Chadwick, who is also 20 and from Castletown, also pleaded guilty to attempted theft and resisting a peace officer.
The Magistrates’ Court heard that the duo tried to steal over £260 worth of clothing and sunglasses from the shop in Strand Street on May 28th.
Their advocates told the Deputy High Bailiff that their whole venture was ‘doomed to fail from the start’ and that they ‘couldn’t have done more to get caught if they’d tried’.
Both were remanded whilst the case is adjourned for reports – they will appear again on July 3rd.
