The Manxman's had to return to Douglas because of a medical emergency on board.
A spokesperson for the Steam Packet said it was quicker for the ferry to turn around and come back to port in this situation.
The Manxman left Douglas at 7.55am this morning, Tuesday, December 16, bound for Heysham.
The company said an update on the incident would follow.
