Jamie Adamson Honoured for Bravery
A Manxman has received one of this highest military honors for courage under fire.
Former Ramsey Grammer School Pupil Jim Adamson has been awarded the Military Cross following a terrifying ordeal while fighting in Afghanistan.
The 24 year old was just meters away from two Taliban fighters firing a machine gun when he ran out of ammunition.
He was forced to use his bayonet to charge at them saving lives of other soldiers.
He’s one of only nine soldiers in the British Army to receive this award.
Army officials say it’s for his 'supreme physical courage' and 'calm leadership' in combat.
They also described his actions as the greatest possible example to the Company and as having an inspirational effect on his men.
His parents said they didn’t even know about his bravery until he was awarded the high honour. (AUDIO ABOVE)
