Manx sovereignty to be addressed in Tynwald

An MHK wants the government to examine whether it would benefit the Isle of Man to be completely independent from United Kingdom.

Member for Rushen Lawrence Skelly will ask the Chief Minister to make a statement in Tynwald today.

Total independence would mean Manx political sovereignty for the first time.

It comes after a recent call from Jersey's Deputy Chief Minister for the Channel Island to be ready for independence.

Mr Skelly says the last time a report looked at the issue was in the 1990s.
