Manx mountaineer aims to complete challenge

The first Manx man to ever conquer Everest will aim to complete his challenge of scaling the highest mountains on all seven continents next month.

Acting police chief inspector Phil Drowley will attempt to finish a 15,629-foot climb to the top of the Carstenz Pyramid in Australasia.

The 46-year old will have to trek through the jungle for a week just to reach the foot of the peak - if he's successful he'll be one of only 230 climbers ever to complete the seven-summit challenge.

He'll be raising money for Ronald McDonald House Isle of Man Families and Friends - which is used as a home away from home for parents of children from the Island who are in UK hospitals.
