Manx linked film gets world premiere

School children on the Isle of Man could be made to watch a new documentary which focuses on the challenges and opportunities created by exponential technologies.

Manx based space company ManSat wants to sponsor the rollout of 'The University' in high schools saying it's 'crucial' that young people here see it.

The University received its world premiere at the Washington West Film Festival in Washington DC yesterday.

It focuses on the Singularity University in Silicon Valley and shows how students confront 'crucial issues' affecting the future of the species and create start-ups to address these topics.

The film has a number of Island links including the fact that two of its executive producers are Manx - one of whom is ManSat chief executive Chris Stott.

He says exponential technology is changing the world and there's only one university in the world devoted to teaching students how to harness it.
