An Isle of Man based company that buys gold jewellery in exchange for cash has agreed to change it's business practice following an Office of Fair Trading investigation.
Customers raised concerns that they were being treated unfairly by some companies including Postal Gold who are based in Douglas.
It was found that some businesses sent consumers a payment, and if this was not rejected and returned within certain time, their jewellery was melted down.
Customers will now have the option of getting a quote or be able to return their payment.
The other firms forced to change their ways as a result of the investigation are Manchester-based CashMyGold and London-based Cash4Gold.
