Manx Care has confirmed it's seeking arbitration to resolve a pay deal with staff.
Following the refusal of their proposed 4% pay increase, the health organisation will hold talks with union representatives and is considering all available options.
It claims the 4% offer would have given staff anywhere between 14-29% more pay than comparable positions in England.
The health body believes any pay offer should recognise staff contribution, but balance with the need to deliver public services in a very challenging economic environment.
