Manx Care's introducing a new translation machine which it calls an 'interpreter on wheels'.
The mobile screen can be moved around Noble's Hospital, and is capable of British Sign Language as well as professional interpreting.
Four of the devices are being brought in to different wards, including the emergency department.
Women's and Children's Services lead Liza Munro says the system will ensure all women, regardless of language or hearing ability, will be able to communicate with their carers.
