Manx athlete dies at Special Olympics Winter Games

A Manx athlete competing in the Special Olympics Winter Games in South Korea has died.

Gareth Cowin passed away after being struck with a deadly virus earlier this week.

The 25 year old was an immensely popular figure on Island and a keen sportsman who had previously won a gold medal in Athens in 2011.

The Manx team will continue on to compete for the remainder of the games.
