A thief who attempted to steal clothes worth hundreds of pounds from Sports Direct has narrowly avoided prison.
Craig Teare, of Crossag Close in Ballasalla, appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood at Douglas Courthouse for sentence.
The 37-year-old admitted theft after stealing Nike hoodies, a jumper and joggers worth £660 from the Strand Shopping Centre store on February 4.
He was spotted putting the items in a bag and was later arrested in Ballasalla.
Teare was handed a 14 week prison sentence suspended for two years, and ordered to pay £145.97 compensation and £125 prosecution costs.
