A man who smashed his girlfriend’s home up, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage in front of her and her young son, will spend two years on probation.
Shaun David Bignall of Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.
At an earlier hearing, the 33 year old admitted burglary and two counts of criminal damage.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing Bignall had smashed windows on his girlfriend’s camper van on September 30 last year.
But days later on October 2, he returned carrying a golf club – smashing his way into the house where he damaged furniture and electrical goods.
Bignall’s advocate told the court her client needed help with mental health, drug and alcohol issues and asked the bench not to jail him.
Magistrates imposed a two-year probation order and ordered him to pay costs of £125.
