A man who crashed a van while over the drink-drive limit will be sentenced in the Island’s higher court after a hearing was told he’d breached a suspended jail sentence.
Alastair Mark Aubrey Flint of Birch Drive in Peel appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 20 year old admitted drink-driving, and having no licence or insurance on Port Soderick Glen Road on September 26.
The court heard police were called to a crash on Marine Drive shortly after 2am and found Flint nearby covered in scratches – he told officers he’d jumped into a gorse bush.
He was arrested after telling paramedics it was his grandfather’s Ford Transit and he’d been drinking.
Mrs Hughes said because Flint had been handed a two-year suspended jail term in 2021, he’d have to go back to the court of General Gaol Delivery to find out if it would be activated.
He was bailed in the sum of £500 on condition he doesn’t drive, and he’ll appear in court before a Deemster on February 24.
