A man who crashed his car lied to police, falsely claiming he’d been burgled and the vehicle had been stolen.
Christopher Michael Moore of Ballacross Road in Peel appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
At an earlier hearing, the 35 year old admitted wasting police time on January 3.
Prosecutor Barry Swain told the hearing as a result of Moore’s false report, police wasted 20 hours investigating the incident before realising Moore had lied.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said Moore had been going through a difficult time but had turned his life around and was ashamed and embarrassed.
Mrs Hughes ordered him to do 120 hours of community service and pay £125 costs.
