A Laxey man’s admitted leading police on a high-speed chase through Onchan and Baldrine.
22 year old Joe Yeardsley of Bay View Terrace appeared before magistrates in Douglas.
He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to halt at a stop sign, not changing a vehicle registration, having no tax and failing to stop for police.
The court heard he was spotted by officers in a Fiat van shortly after 11pm on Friday, March 1 as he drove through a stop sign on Stoney Lane in Onchan.
Officers followed him and saw him overtake on a bend before driving off towards Laxey at speed - they alerted colleagues at Ballamenagh Road who tried to flag him down but he ignored them.
Eventually, they lost sight of him in heavy rain and fog but later traced him over social media and Yeardsley handed himself in.
Magistrates remanded him in custody and committed him to the Court of General Gaol Delivery, where he’ll appear on March 18.
