A Liverpool man has admitted concealing tens of thousands of pounds of criminal property in a secret compartment in his car.
62-year-old Edward Anthony Sutton, of Rufford Close, tried to remove £82,260 from the Isle of Man last month.
The money - which was the proceeds of crime - was found after a raid on a hotel.
Police arrested Sutton in his hotel room at The Empress Hotel in the early hours of March 24th - they seized his mobile phone and car key.
His SAAB, which was parked nearby, was located and taken to Police Headquarters where it was searched - officers found a void between the rear seats and boot compartment.
Further investigation revealed a false wall had been built into the boot - after dismantling it they found numerous packages containing bank notes.
At Douglas Courthouse yesterday Sutton pleaded guilty to the offence.
He'll be sentenced at the Court of General Gaol Delivery and will next appear there on May 5th - there was no application for bail and he was remanded at the Isle of Man Prison.
