A Douglas man has been ordered to pay compensation after causing damage to a health centre during a row over a prescription.
25-year-old Gary Robert Bowie, of Tynwald Street, smashed a glass door panel at the Community Mental Health Centre on June 28th.
Police were called to the facility, on Westmoreland Road, at 2.30pm after reports that Bowie had become agitated when staff refused to issue a new prescription.
He began shouting, threatening to kill himself and others, before lashing out at the door - at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday he admitted causing the damage.
Bowie's advocate told the court his behaviour was 'reckless' rather than intentional adding: "He was clearly in a distressed state - it wasn't pre-meditated."
Sentencing him Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes imposed a two-year conditional discharge and ordered Bowie to pay £200 in compensation and £125 in prosecution costs.
