Ten pounds spent on a fruit machine sparked a row that landed a Douglas man in court, after he assaulted his girlfriend.
48 year old Declan James Cross of Governors Road admitted assault, possessing cannabis and carrying a knife when he appeared at Douglas Courthouse before magistrates.
The bench heard Cross kicked and strangled his partner when they rowed over her gambling and when he was later arrested he had £7 worth of the class B drug and a two-inch blade on him.
Magistrates jailed Cross for a total of four months, suspended for two years, and imposed a 24- month probation supervision order.
He was ordered to pay £500 compensation to the woman he attacked, and £125 costs
