A man who had a knife and knuckledusters in public told police the weapons were for his own protection.
Przemyslaw Henryk Pasternak of Belmont Terrace in Douglas appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.
The 35 year old admitted possessing an offensive weapon, carrying a knife in public and possessing the class C drug pregabalin.
The court heard he and another man drove to Alder Road in Douglas on June 8 in a black BMW, and police were called after an incident nearby.
Pasternak told the hearing he hadn’t threatened anybody with the weapons and he hadn’t taken them out of his pockets.
Mrs Hughes adjourned the case until September 8 for probation reports to be prepared, and bailed Pasternak until that date.
