Man accused of having 33,000 indecent images of children

A man who had 33,000 indecent images of children will be sentenced in March.

Daniel John Carpenter of no fixed address appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

The 39 year old pleaded guilty to 10 counts of making indecent images of children and four of taking the images between January 2013 and December 2022.

The court heard police had searched a number of devices siezed at Carpenter’s home, and some of the images were in the most serious category.

Mrs Hughes said her powers were insiffucient to deal with the case and committed him to the Court of General Gaol for sentencing.

There was no bail application and he was remanded in custody until he appears in the higher court on 17 March.
