Long-term care provision improving on the Island

Elderly people here don't expect the government to pay for long-term care - as they'd prefer to remain independent.

That's the view of the director of adult social care who says people enjoy their independence. 
 
The Department of Health and Social Care says it is working to maintain that by providing help that doesn't infringe on day-to-day living. 
 
According to a study in the UK long-term care bills average at £67,000 - with 18 per cent of people looking to sell their homes to pay for them.
