Local writer researching history of Children's Centre

Did you know The Children's Centre has been in operation for nearly 150 years?

A local writer currently researching 'The History of the Children's Centre' says it's important the Island appreciates how long it's been providing its valuable service.
 
It was started out of a one bedroom property in a Douglas backstreet in 1868 and has continued on in its various guises ever since.
 
A local minister was moved to do something after learning that three children had been sleeping in an upturned herring barrel. 
 
We found out more when we spoke to author Kerry Sharpe
