Local Authority elections to take place on April 26th

The Chief Minister has given 3FM his opinion on the current shape of local authorities and the upcoming elections across the Isle of Man.

Allan Bell underlined the role local authorities still play in Island life and suggested the type of characters that should put themselves forward.

Elections for the Island's 24 local authorities occur every four years and involve a total of 160 seats, the last elections of 2008 saw a majority of seats uncontested and a low turnout of voters where there were contests.

The elections will take place on April 26th, with nominations closing on March 29th.
