Local Authority Elections run down

The Island’s new look local authorities were determined last night, with some new faces, some familiar faces and a smattering of controversy.

The latter came in German were it was discovered after announcing the new look line up that a contestant had gone without having 100 votes counted.

Legal advice is currently being sought to determine what should happen next with regards to this outcome.

Council leader David Christian was voted overwhelmingly back into Hills Ward, with former MHK Bill Malarkey successful in his bid for a Murray’s ward post.

Elsewhere there were lost of first timers successful in their bid, among them Ged Power and Martin Norburry of Port Erin, with new faces in Malew and Lezayre also.
