Liverpool couple appear on drugs charges

A Liverpool couple shouting at their dog early in the morning led to a visit from police - who found up to £5,000 worth of drugs in their Airbnb rental.

Michael Andrew Fitzsimmons of Huskinson Street and Lindsay Marie Jago of Caryl Street appeared before magistrates at Douglas Courthouse.

Both are charged with possessing ketamine and cannabis with intent to supply them and possessing criminal property on October 3, but no pleas have yet been entered.

Prosecutor Barry Swain told the court 38-year-old Mr Fitzsimmons and 42 year old Miss Jago were staying in Erin Way in Port Erin when police called at 7am following complaints about noise.

Both were arrested when police arrived and smelled cannabis – a search of the holiday home found almost 90 grammes of cannabis and 62 grammes of ketamine with a combined street value of up to £4,882.

Officers also uncovered £2,045 in cash which Mr Fitzsimmons said was an inheritance as well as benefits money.

Miss Jago was bailed in the sum of £500 on condition she doesn’t leave the Island and reports to police weekly, while Mr Fitzsimmons was denied bail and remanded in custody until both appear again on October 27.
