Douglas lifeboat was called out yesterday, after the Ben my Chree spotted a distress signal from an emergency transponder.
The volunteer crew was called into action at around 8.30am on Friday when the Steam Packet vessel reported the signal to the coastguard.
When the Sir William Hillary arrived at the course of the signal just off Laxey, it found a fishing boat - but confirmed that wasn't the source of the distress beacon.
The lifeboat carried out a search of the area, but stood down around two hours later.
