Lawyers acting on behalf of the Steam Packet Company have advised a rival shipping company about the dangers of comments on its Facebook page.
Members of the public have been posting their reactions to the news that the Ellan Vannin Line will no longer be launching a freight and passenger service as scheduled.
Some comments allegedly allude to underhand deals between the Steam Packet and the government.
Ellan Vannin Line says it has sought advice from its own legal team and the comments have since been removed.
