A Douglas man who was caught carrying a knife has been told he's got an opportunity to "put his life back on track".
26-year-old Jonathan James Elliott, of Tynwald Road, was spotted with the blade in Douglas on January 14th.
Police clocked Elliott after being called to a disturbance - when Elliott saw them he threw it in a bush.
He later admitted to possessing the prohibited article in a public place.
At Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday Elliott's advocate told the court he himself had been stabbed that night adding: "He initially took it for safe-keeping."
Despite accepting he hadn't used, or threatened to use, the knife Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes told Elliott: "There were potentially fatal consequences of that knife being in your possession."
Imposing a two-year probation order, and 12 month licensing ban, she added: "You're at a pivotal point of your life."
