Kids could be fitness tested in a bid to stop obesity problem

Fitness testing could be introduced for children in an effort to clampdown on the Island's obesity problem.

One in five reception aged children is overweight - with obesity as a whole costing around £5.6 million a year. 
 
The idea is part of the new Strategy for Sport - head of sport, youth and recreation Paul Bridson says he understands it could be seen as controversial: 
 
 
Objectives over the next 10 years include increasing the levels of physical activity in young people and the numbers of people involved in community sport. 
 
Paul says children are naturally competitive so he believes testing them could work:
