Police are warning motorists to make sure their cars are fit for the road - after 85 per cent of vehicle checks turned up faults.
The Roads Policing Unit began stopping vehicles this week, making sure tyres and lights are working during the dark winter months.
This week, 17 out of 20 vehicles had problems and officers gave drivers notices to have the defects fixed.
They say they'll be out again over the next few weeks and stopping vehicles while out on patrol.
