Episode Made by Locals Will Focus on Hidden Homeless Problem on Island
The problem of homelessness on the Isle of Man will come into sharp focus tomorrow evening..
An ITV programme called Fixers will tomorrow be showing the stories of two locals who have struggled with homelessness over the past few years.
The show came about following an appeal for ideas from the Island's young population over the Summer.
Unlike similar documentaries it’s the subject matter that called the shots with local 20 year old Chez and and 17 year old Alex responsible for the content and messages that the show conveys, with only help on the technical side of things from media professionals.
The duo are wanting to get the message across that leaving home early is not always the best option and can often result in a cycle of living in bedsits, sleeping on friends sofas and in some instances being forced to live rough.
Producer Sharon Watson says both Chez and Alex have successfully turned their lives around for the better, and now hope they can use their experiences to educate and inform others who may find themselves in similar situations to themselves. (audio above)
The episode will be incorporated into tomorrow evenings edition of Granada Reports at 6pm on ITV.
