The Isle of Man Constabulary have decided to branch out more into social media and will be trialing Facebook and Twitter pages.
The main aim behind the pages is to provide a method of supplying short timely messages that need to be conveyed to the public quickly.
Facebook will act as the hub but all message posting will be synched up with their twitter feed also, designed to ease of use on mobile devices.
They’ll be running the service until the end of June, when a decision will be reached whether or not to carry it on.
The public are reminded that once online it will not be used as a means of reporting crime, for that you must still follow the usual channels.
