Radio Programme Produces Possible Link Between Island Shipping Companies and Iran
The Isle of Man has found itself at the centre of some very serious allegations following on from a BBC Radio programme.
The programme suggested that Isle of Man based shipping companies have assisted Iran in evading International Sanctions with particular focus on the Iran Shipping Line and the development of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Over the past two years Iran has had various sanctions placed on them to slow down their mlitary machine and stop the possible development of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
The Justice Secretary Ken Clarke was asked what he intends to do in light of the allegations, given he has responsibility for the relationship between the Isle of Man and the UK Government.
He said he will be contacting the Manx Government, but insisted that the Island have a very good functioning system of justice.
